The Ray of Light Project
This project is located in Dondo, Mozambique, a community of 60,000 in which the poverty is deep and stubborn. In this community, AIDS rates are astronomical, ancient rites of witchcraft are commonly practiced, and the population is plagued by malaria and scabies. Where do you start to help in a place like that?
Jeronimo and Noemia Cessito believed the best place to begin was with Christian education. So they started a school and feeding program for preschoolers. It began with just a handful of kids, but now almost 300 children come to one of their two campuses in the village. There they attend classes, hear a Bible lesson, study their ABCs, and enjoy a hot lunch before returning home.
The preschools are almost entirely funded by child sponsorships. Would you consider sponsoring a Mozambican child? See our child sponsorships page for more information.
The Ray of Light project doesn't stop with preschools. It includes the El Shaddai K-12 school, a medical clinic, hospice, Vo-tech program for youth, teaching bakery, microfinance program for widows, farm, and a number of church plants.
